Merit System

The Key Stage 3 Merit Scheme provides a whole-school approach to celebrating success and motivating pupils to achieve their best. The system is awards-based and pupils across all three KS3 year groups have the opportunity to receive awards across three categories

The winner of each award receives a certificate and enamel badge for their blazer, presented in assembly.  At the end of the year there is a merit reward day away for any pupil who has won an award throughout the year.

Subject Awards

Year Head Awards

Special Merit Awards

Each department sets criteria and gives out one award per year group, according to their specific subject.

Examples include:

  • Year 9 Rainforest Project in Geography
  • Year 8 Christmas Card Project in Technology and Design
  • Super Scientist Award

At the end of each term Year Heads in Years 8-10 will issue an award to the student in their year group that they feel is most deserving.

These awards are given out by the Principal, Vice-Principal or Head of Key Stage 3, to acknowledge someone who has accomplished something special or had a significant impact on school life.
